May 2026 Featured Book
I am in love with Maya Meyers' and Jennifer K. Mann’s picture book, Good Morning, Morning!. Just look at that cover! A joyful, barefooted child jumping in the air drenched in the early morning’s sunlight! Written in delightful, poetic language that calls one’s bare feet to the earth and illustrated with wonder-filled, engaging illustrations reminding us to explore more, I’m shouting this book out to many people!
I remember as a child how much I loved to feel my bare feet in the dewy grass first thing in the morning and really anytime throughout the day and evening. My little soul knew it wanted to be connected to the earth. By the time I was awake, the sun had already come out, but in this story readers experience the world before the sun rises. A time of so much quiet, and perhaps, forgotten beauty. This much needed story can be an anchor, a reminder, an inspiration to remain in connection with Mother Earth and her endless gifts. And for children to continue to be in environments that help them to connect to themselves and the wonder of outdoors.
What do the children in your life love about nature? What every day nature activities bring them joy and curiosity? How do they use their senses out in nature?
